Obituary for Cedric Darrian Shawnkise Cherry

Cedric Darrian Shawnkise Cherry was born on July 15, 1993, in Murray, Kentucky, to Franshawn (Blanton) Strickland and Robert Cedric Darwin Cherry at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. He departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Johnny Blanton, Sr. ("Poppa") and Francine Blanton ("Granny"), as well as his son, Isiah Darrian Marquis Cherry.

Cedric was baptized at an early age at St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Norris E. Mills. He believed in God and carried that faith with him throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Murray High School, Class of 2011, Cedric was a gifted and active student-athlete. He participated in track, basketball, football, and baseball, with football holding a special place in his heart. He was coached in little league by his grandfather, an experience he deeply treasured. Cedric also excelled in park league baseball, earning All-Star recognition and competing on a travel baseball team. Following high school, he continued his education at Murray State University.

Cedric was known for his vibrant personality and undeniable presence. Affectionately called "Swagga Ced," he was admired for his confidence, infectious smile, and impeccable sense of style-always dressed from head to toe, a trait he proudly inherited from his father. He was well-loved by friends, classmates, and teachers alike, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving mother, Franshawn (Blanton) Strickland; his father, Robert Cedric Darwin Cherry; his brother, Ra'Vichael Strickland; his sister, Aaliscia Strickland; his two beautiful daughters, Amyiah Grace Ainscough and Kapri Symone Cherry; his wife, Megan Cherry; his uncle, Johnny (Kara) Blanton, Jr.; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Cedric's life was a gift to those who knew and loved him. His spirit, style, and smile will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to share in his journey.
