Obituary for Ms. Saundra "SAC" Mae Yarber
Ms. Saundra "SAC" Mae Whittemore-Yarber, 78, peacefully entered her eternal rest on December 4, 2025, at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky. She was born on June 10, 1947, in Graves County, Kentucky, to the late Rastus and Ollie B. (Hobbs) Whittemore, who welcomed her into a loving and faith-centered family.
At an early age, Ms. Whittemore-Yarber professed her hope in Christ and joined Hickory Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, where she served faithfully until the church's closure. She later united with Smith Temple Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America, remaining devoted to her church family and to her faith until her passing. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived-steadfast, humble, and guided by compassion.
Ms. Whittemore-Yarber graduated from Symsonia High School and spent her life dedicated to serving others through her work in the home health industry. Her gentle spirit and caring hands touched many lives, reflecting her belief in the importance of kindness and giving. Outside of her work, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life: fishing, traveling, sitting on the porch, and spending time outdoors. These moments brought her peace, fulfillment, and a deep connection to God's creation.
Ms. Whittemore-Yarber was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edward Louis Yarber; two sisters, Nobee Yarber and Mary Whittemore; and five brothers, Arfestus, Freddie, Charles, Rastus Jr., and Melvin Whittemore.
Ms. Whittemore-Yarber leaves a legacy of love that will continue through her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Tina Yarber and Jessica Yarber, both of Boaz, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Laniya Yarber of Paducah, Kentucky, and Dredun Yarber and Ja'Ohana Yarber, both of Boaz, Kentucky; and three great-grandchildren, Ka'Liah Yarber, Alexander Elder, and Jaidexx all of Paducah, Kentucky; one sister, Wanda Stubblefield of Mayfield, Kentucky, and four brothers, Robert Whittemore (Pattie) of Falls of Rough, Kentucky, Jasper Whittemore, James Whittemore of Boaz, Kentucky, and Kenneth Whittemore of Mayfield, Kentucky. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
